In Loving Memory of

     Our sister in faith, June Heist, 99, of Pompano Beach, FL, a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Robesonia, PA, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022.

 

     She was born June 30, 1922, in Robesonia, PA, daughter of the late Luke and Ida Smith.

 

     She graduated from Robesonia High School and in 1944; graduated Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Home Economics, becoming a Home Economics teacher in the public school system.

 

     She was married to Lester I. Heist for 53 loving years, before preceding her in death.

 

     She worked a short time, before staying home to raise her family, volunteer, and to enjoy many of her hobbies.  June was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Robesonia, PA, the Women’s Club of Robesonia, and her college sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, before moving to Pompano Beach, FL in 1981.

 

     She was an avid golfer, to which she played several rounds a week.  There was not a sewing project, a quilt, nor something to knit that she could not do.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed dinners with her lady friends.  Playing cards and trips each year to Las Vegas were always something you could count her in to do!  If there was a game on TV, she was watching it, especially Penn State football or any golf tournament.  She enjoyed annual trips in the summer to Delaware, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, visiting family and friends, all of these things she continued doing into her mid-90’s!

 

     She is survived by her loving family; Children, Thomas Heist of Pompano Beach, FL, Patricia Jefferis (Charles) of Lewes, DE, James Heist (Melissa) of Fairfax, VA, Grandchildren, Christopher Heist of KS, Stephanie Heist (Erica) of West Palm Beach, FL, Kimberly Jefferis Linus (Jimmy) of Lewes, DE, and Leah Heist Dry (Chris) of San Mateo, CA, and Great-Grandchildren, Brent Linus of Lewes, DE and Marvin Dry of San Mateo, CA.

 

     A graveside service will be held at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, PA on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00am with the Rev. Dr. Benjamin D. Motz of St. Paul's UCC in Robesonia officiating.
